Welcoming a litter of puppies into the world is a thrilling experience. There's also a lot to do! Let's discover how our app can guide you step-by-step through the process, ensuring everything runs smoothly for your upcoming puppies.
1. Health Checks & Tagging
One of the first things to prioritize is the health of the mother. Before breeding, you'll want to ensure that the parent dogs have undergone all necessary health checks, like OFA clearances and Brucellosis testing.
- Tip: Use the Health Tracker to input these results. Remember to include the date and veterinarian details. By tagging each record, such as "OFA-Clearance" or "Brucellosis-Test", you can pull up this data quickly.
2. Organizing Tasks
There's so much to remember! From getting a whelping pen to ordering supplements, it can feel overwhelming.
- Tip: Utilize the Task Manager to outline everything that needs doing. For instance, create a task titled "Buy Whelping Pen" and set its priority to "Important". Also, tag it with something like "FirstLitterPrep" to ensure you can track all related tasks in a snap. If the puppies are due real soon, set the priority to "Urgent" instead, and add the Urgent tag to organize all of your pressing tasks.
3. Keeping Records
You'll accumulate many documents during this time – health records, purchase receipts, and more.
- Tip: The Documents feature is your friend. Upload every document and give it a title. Use tags like "FirstLitterDocs" so you can retrieve all related files in moments.
4. Budgeting & Accounts
The expenses can add up. Whether it's for dog food, sanitization tools, or the whelping pen, you'll want to keep track.
- Tip: Use the Accounts Manager. Every time you make a purchase related to the litter preparations, record the item and manage the payment status. Tag entries with something like "FirstLitterExpenses" to easily monitor your spending for an end of year, or month to month review.
5. Notifying Potential Parents
You might have a list of eager families waiting for a puppy. Letting them know about the upcoming litter is crucial.
- Tip: With the Contacts Manager, keep a list of potential customers. Track the best method(s) to reach them, maybe they prefer an email or social media DM. Tag them under "Waitlist" or "InterestedInFirstLitter" to quickly see and contact everyone when the puppies arrive.
6. Using Tags Creatively
Remember, tags aren't pre-made; they're your personal labels! Think about what makes sense to you. Maybe "MamaDogHealthChecks" or "Litter1Expenses". The power of tags is that they make searching and organizing more comfortable.
- Tip: Combine tags across features! If you tagged a document with "Litter1Expenses" and a task with the same, you can search this tag to see both the bill and the related item.
7. Ready, Set, Whelp!
With everything in place, you're more than prepared for the puppies. The combined power of tagging and app features ensures that from health checks to notifying potential puppy parents, everything is seamless.
Final Thoughts: Welcoming a new litter, especially your first, is a big event. It comes with its fair share of tasks, responsibilities, and joys. Our app, with its range of features, is designed to reduce the stress and amplify the joy. Happy breeding!
